With your next batch I would recommend running the utensils you use through your dishwasher or wash with very hot soapy water to remove and potential bad bacteria before mixing it into the starter. Also be sure to scrape down the sides of the crock to keep any rouge starter from developing those same bad bacteria outside of the main portion of starter.
