Saving Energy and Money
Unplugging appliances and switching off lights when they are not in use are very simple yet tangible solutions to saving our mother earth. Every kilowatt we waste is an added problem for the planet and definitely an additional cost to our electricity bill. With the unstoppable oil price hikes and Meralco’s recent announcement of an increase in charges to be implemented next month, surely, we must think of ways to lower the bills.
We have already replaced our bulbs with environmentally friendly compact flourescent light bulbs (CFLs) a long time ago and since then, I have noticed a big drop on my electricity bills. These compact bulbs use much less energy than standard bulbs and they last up to ten times longer. Hubs has also replaced the hallway lightings and the outdoor lighting with a motion sensor lighting fixture, they turn on only when movement is detected, then turn off again automatically. Now I don’t have to leave them on for a long time.
How about you? What steps have you taken to save energy and money? The things I mentioned above are very simple to follow, they can become a habit if done regularly, and believe me, you will see the rewards of your simple act.
