What to do with leftover ham?

The kids are starting to get tired of eating it and I had to think of other ways to serve, or I’ll end up eating all of the leftovers by myself. Oh, I’m not complaining. I love a good Chinese ham, but my waistline doesn’t! And besides, I am not getting any younger. I should watch out on the salty and fatty food.

I found some apples in the fridge, so I thought of putting them together, which turned out to be a really great idea. And then I thought of cheese… the gooey-when-it-melts type of cheese and the result is heavenly!

Ham-Apple-Cheese Open-Faced Sandwich

  • Ham slices
  • 1 Fuji apple, sliced
  • Wheat bread or crostini or whatever kind of bread you fancy
  • Quick melt cheese, grated
  • Mayonnaise

  1. Spread mayonnaise thinly on bread.
  2. Place ham slices on top of the bread.
  3. Top ham with sliced apples.
  4. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  5. Toast prepared sandwich in the preheated oven for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Note: If you add a few drops of ham juice or ham sauce on top of the cheese, it will brown a little and make it look more yummy.
